& t.s. baker:
east coast-based duo stan moeller and t.s. baker built a steady following throughout the 1990s with their eclectic brand of folk. the pair, whose sound owes as much to the diversity of pop and rock as it does to the folk scene (they tip their hat to the likes of the beatles, tom waits and kurt weill), released three cds filled with traces of folk, pop, light jazz, blues and latin rhythms.
moeller, whose percussive acoustic guitar injects a rhythmic energy into much of their material, originally hails from the midwest, as does baker, who, aside from playing guitar, piano, accordion, mandolin and percussion, played a major part in producing and arranging all three of their albums.
both are currently pursuing solo careers, with moeller following his other passion as a landcape painter, and baker recording her debut as a solo musician. visit their web sites for more information. --brett hartenbach
